Losing Weight Basics

Are you the type of person who has trouble sticking to a diet? Is exercise a part of your daily regimen or does it make cringe every time you think about it?  Weight loss comes down to the amount of calories you consume to the amount you burn. While the science behind weight loss is easy, the journey is not. I always recommend an exercise regimen for anyone seeking to improve their health in any way.

Speed Up Your Metabolism

The metabolism is the process of chemicals that metabolizing the foods you eat at a speed that is either fast or slow. The faster the metabolism, the quicker you burn calories.

Ease Your Cravings

One of the biggest challenges is overcoming the cravings when trying to lose weight. Several factors come into play when you're dealing with cravings. Habit is one of the biggest catalyst to cravings. You have been eating the same diet long enough that you have acquired the taste for the foods you eat. Other factors include chemicals in the food and gut bacteria.


The easiest way to overcome the habit of eating poorly, is to make eating healthier more convent. If the healthy food is more readily available, you're more likely to eat it. Convenient wins every time and most likely the reason you are eating unhealthy foods. Prepping your foods on the weekend is a great way to prepare healthier foods and making it more convenient. There are food preparation companies that will deliver healthy meals to your home or office as well. Doesn't matter how you make your healthy meals convenient just as long as you do.

Chemicals in Your Food

Many unhealthy foods have added chemicals to make you crave and eat more. Ingredients such as high fructose corn syrup and monosodium glutamate (MSG) mess with hormones in your body that increase weight. Do your research and avoid these chemicals that have no business in your food.

Gut Bacteria

Your digestive system is full of bacteria that's either hurting or helping you.  If you're over weight, I'll almost guarantee yours isn't the kind you want. Unhealthy bacteria feeds off of sugars, and if their needs aren't met, they send out a chemical that trigger cravings for it. 


Healthy gut bacteria (probiotics) play a big factor when it comes to having a functional digestive system (and makes up around 80% of your immune system).  Fermented foods such as sauerkraut, kefir, kimchi  and yogurt are all good sources of good bacteria.


Since fermented foods aren't popular among many people, there are other alternative products that offer probiotics. We offer Lactobacillus Acidophilus in a powder that you can add to foods and drinks. We found this to be the easiest option for those that have problems breaking down pills. 


Making changes to your daily routine is hard and will take self discipline but in the end is always worth it. Your health is valuable to you and your loved ones. You're always setting examples for your children, just make sure they're the right ones.
